Reviews for Limniona 2020
A linear and very clean, single-varietal red with blackberry, black-cherry and orange-peel aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied with a fresh and tense finish. Sophisticated and focused. Spontaneous fermentation in amphora and open-top barrels. Aged in amphora. Drink or hold.
This is 100% limniona, an almost extinct variety making a comeback. Wines of Greece hails it a potential superstar variety. This was naturally fermented in clay amphora and several months therein. It is a quite charming, floral and fresh wine with lifted lilac, plummy fruit and a touch of lees and earth in the background. It is medium bodied, firm and firm and well balanced with low tannin. The length is excellent. Tasted March 2022
An amphora and open top barrel-fermented limniona, further aged 10 months in amphora, this is light and sleek, silky-textured, polished red wine, clean but clearly on the natural spectrum, the most accomplished of the Oenops red wines I've tasted. I like the mix of fresh, small red fruits, red apple, plum preserves and fresh herb, light dillweed flavours, but it's really the texture that impresses most, with such fine-grained tannins and comfortable, ripe acids. Length, too, is very good. Worth a look; best over the next 2-3 years.
